I never had a weight problem growing up and I always stayed active through dancing. After I graduated things definitely changed! I quickly got married at 19 and had our first baby when I was 21. I LOVED being a mom more than anything, but the weight I gained was not something I was completely prepared for emotionally. I gained 45 pounds and had 30 to lose 6 weeks postpartum.
I had NO CLUE how to exercise or what I was supposed to eat to help me lose weight. We weren't in a position that I could go to the gym either. Because of that it took me over a year to lose that weight and really feel confident about myself again.
In October 2012 when my 1st was almost 3, I had a friend, who was a Beachbody coach, invite me to do her challenge group which incorporated using a Beachbody program and Shakeology. I agreed to doing a program (Chalene Extreme), but didn't see the value in Shakeology so I gave it to my husband to use. I did the group for 30 days and instantly fell in love with the programs. I even ended up buying a second program (Turbo Fire) shortly after!
A few months later in April 2013 I got pregnant with my second baby and used my programs to help me stay active for a good portion of the time (I didn't exercise AT ALL my 1st pregnancy). She came into our family in December 2013!!
Like my first baby, I again gained 45 pounds and had 30 to lose 6 weeks postpartum. I had a lot of lot of emotions, but at the same time I felt MORE prepared this time because I had a fitness program to do from home to help me build my self confidence back.
I tried my best to get 4-5 workouts in a week during nap time or bedtime. Sometimes I couldn't finish because one of my kids needed me and sometimes I just couldn't get it done at all, but I was DETERMINED to stick with it. I wanted to feel attractive to my husband and I wanted to feel like ME again.
About 5 months later in May 2014 I had dropped 20 lbs using my programs and had this LIGHT BULB come on inside my head that I wanted to be a coach! I had FINALLY found something that worked for me that I LOVED! Exercising daily helped my energy levels and it helped me handle all the stresses that come from motherhood. I wanted EVERY mom to feel the way that I felt.
I had been watching coaches since I was first introduced to the programs and loved the community of positivity and support they all had! So I contacted a friend that was a coach and two days later I had signed up and was READY to go!
I still had 10 lbs to lose when I became a coach and I had honestly been feeling STUCK with it. I started using Shakeology for the first time and I was HOOKED! Those last 10 lbs were GONE within about 6 weeks, it gave me a boost of energy, it made me FEEL good, the nutrients helped curb my junk food cravings, and it was EASY to take on the go. I was no longer stopping at fast food places while running errands anymore. I quickly saw the investment was WELL worth it for me.
I now have a true love for exercise, programs that work, my whole family is eating cleaner, a new community of friends, and I am just HAPPY.
I know that my habits will most likely become my children's and so I feel like HUGE role I have is to set the example!
Working on myself on the inside and out has reflected positively in ALL areas of my life and I can't help, but feel so extremely grateful.
